On May 11, 1981, Reggae and the music world in general lost one of its pioneers as Bob Marley passed away at the tender age of 36 after a long battle with cancer. Now 31 years since his death, industry observers may be plotting a way to bring him back to the stage.

During the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States last month, fans were stunned when a realistic version of late rap legend, Tupac Shakur appeared on stage and performed. The image was created through a holographic projection, making it appear as if Shakur was revived given that his motions, vocal tone and physical appearance resembled that of the real life rap superstar.

After the success of that project, Jamaican music industry players are speculating about whether to bring back Bob Marley in a similar fashion. According to the island Youth Ambassador for entertainment, Graham Rowe, creating a holographic image of Marley would garner unlimited interest for pure Reggae fans, but could somewhat diminish his effervescent aura.

“A holographic Bob Marley would have been both beneficial and negative; this technology could re-stimulate global interest in reggae music. People would get a chance to see a Bob Marley performance and that is magnificent. However, some things can get played out easily and you don’t want to play out one of Jamaica’s biggest icon. There is a concept that scarcity increases value, so perhaps if a holographic Bob Marley was allowed to go on a tour, that could reduce his legendary status, but nevertheless, I would love to see Bob Marley performing again. We could also include current reggae artistes to improve their international exposure,”he told the Jamaica STAR.

Meanwhile, prominent Jamaican lighting director, John DaCosta explained how the projection used to create the realistic image of Tupac worked and how it function should the same be done for Bob Marley.

“It is a projection called the Musion Eyeliner which is a high definition video projection system designed to create the illusion of three-dimensional moving images, using a high definition projector to throw the image on a reflective surface which bounces the image back on-stage. This system makes it possible for real people and virtual persons to share the same stage,”

Internationally acclaimed hip-hop superstar and singer, Akon looks to truly connect with fans of another popular genre as he plans to release an all-Reggae album in the near future.

Currently completing work on his fourth studio album, Stadium, the Senegalese-born artiste insists that he was inspired to work on an all-Reggae project after visiting Jamaica in January. During his time in the island, Akon visited Tuff Gong studios where he worked on projects with prominent Reggae megastars, Damian Marley andStephen Marley as well as Julian Marley. Additionally, he toured the Bob Marley Museum and even tweeted pictures while on the legendary premises.

In a recent interview with Billboard.com, Akon spoke of his admiration for the Marley’s, insisting that they motivated him to achieve greater heights while in the creative process of music.

“It was such an honor to be in that environment and be inspired by it,” he said.

“They had me writing three to four songs a day because I was so amped!”

Now Akon looks to build off that experience by creating an all-Reggae compilation and even hinted that the Marley’s would feature on the album.

“I always said to myself, ‘When I get to that position when I can do an all-reggae album, I would love to do it,’ and those guys are the best to do it with,” he said.

Sharon Osbourne has accused Simon Cowell of dragging her into his "world of debauchery" after their explosive The X Factor arguments were included in his latest biography.

The music mogul gave insider access to investigative journalist Tom Bowers as he wrote new book Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life Of Simon Cowell.

The Osbourne matriarch declined to be interviewed for the tell-all book and is now furious after learning the tome suggests she "exploded" with rage over Cowell's fling with Dannii Minogue while they were judges on Britain's The X Factor.

Osbourne is adamant she knew all along Cowell had been romancing Minogue, but insists she didn't care about their secret relationship.

She tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "I'm not Simon's mother - I don't give a toss who he f**ks. That's none of my business. I think Simon thought he'd have complete control over this book."
